Their responsibilities change constantly, and they have to respond and grow quickly to keep up. Their domain is very different from that of their executive peers, and hard to explain. This often leads to misunderstanding and miscommunication, which can be very isolating. It's no surprise that the tenure of the average CTO is much shorter than other executives.
